– 5-(and-6)-Carboxy-2′,7′-dichlorofluorescein diacetate is membrane-permeant and thus can be loaded into cells via incubation. The diacetate is readily hydrolyzed to 5-(and-6)-carboxy-2′,7′-dichlorofluorescein by intracellular esterases.
